Interval training for fat loss is what I discuss in this video of “Ask Yuri” . For more interval training information visit www.mytreadmilltrainer.com . A lot of people ask me pretty specific things about interval training so in this video I make it as simple as possible for you to understand how to burn with interval training.

but i thought you said in a previous video that shorter intervals are better?? (specifically, you quoted a study where the participants did 6 seconds intense work, 9 seconds recovery)… now you’re saying minute-long intervals?
hey yuri great video! how about the incline levels? should those change as well? thanks!
how about 20 mins at high intensity? as in the fastest i could run for 20 mins straight, would that be good also?
@hjbear0303 I doubt that you could SUPER SPRINT for 20 minutes straight…
Hi Yuri, appreciate your work ! my objective is to lose fat and increase endurance. I jog 2-3 times a week, with the initial 20minutes on interval where I run up a steep hill as fast as I can and recovered to bottom. However, I can’t seems to get pass 7km. My body end up feeling too tired to go beyond 7km. So my question is how can I then improve my endurance to handle half marathon, given my current trianing regime…..
@aIIoutboy i think this video is more about the fat loss, the short intervals are probably more sports oriented like tennis and football. Cause they ask short prints.
@aIIoutboy – yes,shivex is correct :
fat loss = longer intervals to burn calories and to continue to burn calories for hours after the workout.
Sports = shorter intervals to train the body for quick bursts of speed that are required during sports like football.
i love intervall training but i always get overtrained, cant help it:( i already had sucess with it, but i have to take breaks between to recover from different kind of pain

i need some help-.- does interval training burn muscle aswell as fat?
@xLiggz The only way running will burn muscle is when you run marathons and run 10k every day but besides that your muscle is ok hope that helped
Did my Hiit today as a beginner I did 3:3 for about an hour . Some periods I rest longer than I should. Not bad for a big guy I guess
What are your intervals Yuri?
I just started attempting to do interval training (used to do 30 minutes of jogging before) and I´m not very sure if I´m doing the timing and duration correctly. I do light jogging for a minute, then jog for two minutes, and sprint to near exhaustion for a minute after that. I repeat the cycle 6 times before leaving the gym. And I have to use an eliptical trainer instead of a treadmill because of my knees; just wondering if it makes a big difference or not.
Hey my frined…can you answer me? : I’m doing next thing:10 sit ups,100m sprint, renedage row 5 times per hand,100m sprint,15 push ups,100m sprint ..5 min without pause.thant rest 1 minute than repeat all in 5min (i can do all 2 times in 5 minutes,so i do all 4 times in 10 minutes). IS that OK? P.S. I can’t even talk after that training.Thank you.
What Yuri didn’t mention is the key to Interval Training is the protein Myoglobin fueling muscle in lieu of carbohydrates and lactic acid which block fat burning. Many have experimented with different time protocols. Many ask me how my members make such rapid progress. I use so many variables, ones from my many years of experience to know what works quicker with different people in a group. I calculate a person’s biochemistry and neurophysiology as well as the group dynamics and psychology.
Both long duration cardio and interval training will help you lose fat if you’re eating to lose fat, doesn’t really matter which one you do.
NOTHING you do is going to give instant results and NOTHING you do will prevent you from having excess body fat if you like a slob.
@Mattypphillip HIT is more than 10x more effective than slow cardio and takes less time. This is confirmed by medical studies.
someone please answer this, with interval training does it increase VO2 Max, and cardiovascular endurance etc?
@hunkyjelly yes but can increase them more by targeting them individually
@hunkyjelly yes. With 5 weeks of tabata sprints (on a field, not treadmill) my V02 max increased dramatically from poor to excellent
Does recovery mean slow jog or complete stop?
Eeek his body is so veiny
BTW this is totally true, the more it hurts the better your body is working
