They’re making me gain weight and I’m afraid?
I’m 15, weighed 113, and am 5’3. But apparently I’m too thin because my body fat percentage is 12.5, and the dietician thinks thats why my period stopped. I was ok about it at first… but I’ve gained a few pounds since then, still not enough apparently, and it’s scaring me. It all went to my belly, and now I see this little pudge that was never there before. My hips and stomach seem fuller, and in a bad way, not a good one, because I never looked too thin to start with. (at my lowest weight I wear size seven. Yeah, 113 pounds, and size SEVEN I said)
I don’t want to lose the ability to have children, I don’t want to go through menopause at age 15… but I’m so so so scared to gain weight. I won’t do it anymore. I can’t. I’d do anything to make it stop.
I already have TWO counsilors so don’t preach to me about therapy.

I’m assuming you lost your period because you lost weight, correct?
Well, as teenagers, your body needs a certain amount of weight and fat to get it’s period, and 12.5% isn’t enough unless that’s how much you had when you were getting your period. Most women need 17%-22% to menstruate, as that is the average body fat for women. Try gaining more weight, although you are afraid. More weight doesn’t look bad on already skinny people, trust me, I know from experience. You don’t want to lose bone mass and go through osteoporosis, like you said–so gain some weight, get your body fat up to around 17% and trust me, you won’t be freaked out by the way you look.
