Forget about weight loss per se. Simply take a healthy lifestyle.Eat a healthy diet and plenty of exercise! The more exercise the better! For a healthy diet, they need to eat small medium meals regularly. 4 or 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be high in fiber), should contain a balanced amount of carbohydrates for energy (potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (fish, chicken, occasional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and vegetables). Eat well and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, liquid accounts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.) Now, the science: Protien is essential for muscle repair and maintain muscle is healthy (this includes your heart, lungs, brain etc). That naturally lose the amount of protien you have all day (through of urine etc) so this has to be replenished regularly on a daily basis. Carbohydrates are essential for energy. You will not be able to function without it. It also regulates body fat and glucose vitamins and minerals, etc. are obviously essential for a variety of reasons. For normal growth and development, the maintenance of healthy cells, tissues and organs in our bodies, and we will also efficiently use chemical energy provided by food. You can have a variety of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. On the positive side, fresh vegetables and rice and pasta is much cheaper than junk food sucks! This does not mean you can not chocolate or pizza / take / etc, just save as is very casual. The big secret to maintaining a healthy weight and staying healthy is exercise, especially cardiovascular exercise. Cardiovascular exercise is any form of exercise such as running / jogging / swimming / cycling etc that gets your heart rate pumping and sweat and breathing. Not only burn calories and reduce body fat levels, thus making it "thinner" to have less fat on you, but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function, making it healthier. You can not underestimate the importance of cardio exercise. This is basically going to burn body fat on you. But remember that once you have shed some fat you have to have a nice toned body fat below to display. Strength training will help strengthen and tone muscles. This is done with the use of weights or free training. There are essentially (without being too complicated) two types of strength exercises based on different muscle fiber types depending on the time you want to increase the size, mass and energy, or simply "Tone" until the muscles get a more lean muscle endurance. Heavy weights with representatives of short / games will build twitch muscle fibers quickly and increase the size, power and strength. Imagine big boys in the gym lifting weights. But if you use light to medium weights with lots of repetitions / Series that year by the slow-twitch muscle fibers, you do not increase the size, but you tone your body and train muscle endurance. Obviously, this will will 'look' healthier and more toned, but will also increase your metabolism (as your muscles demand more energy) so that burn calories faster.
